CONTRABAND – IT’S GOT THE GOODS

WORTH A FULL PRICE TICKET

Mark Wahlberg does double duty in this thinking man’s action thriller as producer and main character. Don’t go to the theater expecting a lot of fighting and car chases, but it is a smart action movie that still builds suspense and thrills. Wahlberg plays reformed smuggler Chris Farraday, a man who has given up his wild ways to live the serene life as a business owner and family man. Farraday finds himself in a tough spot when his wife’s (Kate Beckinsale) kid brother tries to pick up the old family business with a less than stellar result.

Farraday must make the choice between remaining straight-laced or going down the path that he was trying to forget. Of course, there would be no movie if he just went to the police, so it’s pretty clear which way he goes. The audience is along for this wild ride and we think that the payoff is good. The film is refreshing in a sea of remakes. There is an originality to it that makes you do something that you don’t normally do – root for the bad guys.

Take a trip to see Contraband. We think you will be pleasantly surprised. It’s not necessarily what you think about when you think of an action movie but don’t worry – action is in there. Smuggle a bag of candy into the theater and check out Contraband!
