Synopsis: AMERICAN HONEY:  Star (Sasha Lane), an adolescent girl from a troubled home, runs away with a traveling sales crew who drive across the American Midwest selling subscriptions door to door. Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers, one of whom is Jake (Shia LaBeouf), she soon gets into the group’s lifestyle of hard-partying nights, law-bending days, and young love. (A24) This film is rated R. In select theaters on October 14th.

    I thought about running away from home when I was a pre-teen. But thank god, I came to my senses as to be thankful for 2 parents, a place to live, clothes on my back, and food to eat.

    When one of my children was very young , she decided to run away from home. She put all her stufff that she wanted to take into a pillowcase and started walking After about 2 hours, she was back and told us she had no where to go.

    Yes I know of a girl who ran away from home. Ending up with a group of teenagers of no good. Not attending school etc. Fell in love with a troubled young man. There’s was no getting her to see the era of her ways. She was blinded by love. She had aspiring dreams of getting an education & loved the school she was attending.

  5. I had a close friend who ran away from home while in highschool because his mom was on drugs and there was no stable family life. My family adopted him and brought her into our family.

    I remember a friend of my auntie who left home to travel the world. She was a traveling nurse and came to find out that she ended up in Australia. There she gave birth to a little boy and when she returned everyone was stunned to learn about this. She actually ran away from her home so she could raise the boy away from the father since he walked out on her. Back in the 1960’s it was not acceptable to be a single mother.

    While in high school a friend of mine decide he was in love and tired of school so he ran away with his girl friend. They made it as far a Georgia where they ran out of money and were picked up by the police.

    When i was about 6 i tried to run away. I packed my suitcase walked out the front door ( I truly believed my mother would stop me) then sat on the front steps until it became dark.

    I ran away from home to Daytona Bike Week when I was 15. It was a 16 hr drive. Little did I know my dad was an hour behind us. I spent one hour there 🙁

    My teenage cousin ran away and her parents thought she may have been kidnapped and maybe forced into prostitution. She was gone for about two weeks before calling home to reveal she ran away, but wanted to return home.

    My friend ran away from home to get away from an abusive parent. She was able to move in with another family member, and she started a new life without the fear of pain and hurt. She is doing great today.

    When I was in High School a friend of mine ran away because she had an abusive father. She ended up staying with her brother and his wife until she went to college.she was so brave and I appreciated the fact I had such a caring family to support me.

    Years ago my cousin ran away from home and he was 18 ,told his mother he was too old to be getting whuppins and packed up A SUITCASE and never came back. Told my Aunt that he was a man !
